The designated name of the airsoft team under the NIHAS, is ‘Ulster Home Guard’, or simply, the UHG. The title ‘Ulster’ denotes the province in which the team was founded and ‘Home Guard’ represents that we are a part-time airsofting team. As can be seen in the command structure below, the UHG comprises of different types of units, each with their own unique set of skills

The weaponry, uniforms, equipment and badges of the UHG are pieced together and repurposed from existing British and Commonwealth 1900 to 1945 styles for our own use while still keeping a period theme, due to our vast interest and love of history.

The UHG was intentionally created inaccurate in a historical sense so we can make it our own, when re-enacting we are accurate with even the smallest of details however, when it comes to airsofting, we don’t want to be known as an existing battle-hardened regiment, unit or force. So, we created our very own.

Ulster Home Guard Units

12th & 15th  Guards Infantry (Training & Regulars)

These units wear the standard P37 battledress Uniform (British & Commonwealth Forces) with the P37 Webbing. The only difference in style that can be easily noticed, is the trousers which within the Ulster Home Guard, are a Dark Emerald Green. All other kit and their associated articles remain the same. The 12th is primarily a training unit with the 15th consisting of newly graduated recruits.

7th Regiment – Kings Own (Special Weaponry Units)

These are highly skilled, front line, infantry troops consisting of sharpshooters, bombardiers, heavy and light weaponry. They tend to work in small sections, often enough in fire teams causing havoc to the opponent and are generally sent in to disorientate and create false illusions of attack. They would go behind opponent lines to besiege them and help ease the advance of other troops. However, with the amount of havoc they invoke upon the opponent, they usually end up capturing and holding vital objectives making them quite formidable. If you get into this Unit, you will have no issues of a transfer into the North Irish Scots.

4th Medical Yeomanry

Medical staff is branched into two separate sections: Camp service and Front line. Camp Service are units which hold stationary positions such as camps and aid stations. These consist non-combatants. The Front-line medical personnel on the other hand, consist of front-line trained troops who have an adept skill to help recover lost and injured troops even under immense fire.

North Irish Scots (Victoria’s Own Rifles)

ULSTER HOME GUARD

They are the only Regiment within the Ulster Home Guard that wear the kilt, these units are attached as small rifle groups due to their high marksmanship. They are set into their own class of elite with the members in these small rifle units having trained up to 4 years or more to allow them to apply for just a transfer with no guarantee of getting in. They wear the standard tropical Ulster Home Guard Expeditionary Force uniform as many of its riflemen have travelled throughout Europe, Africa, even as far an India and Myanmar (Burma). However in Home Service this unit wears the khaki green version of the desert tunic.

ULSTER HOME GUARD

107th ASSC (Army Service & Signal Corps)

These units facilitate and arrange the moving and removal of all equipment and gear used by the Ulster Home Guard, while also playing key roles in the effective transmission of communications and supplies to and from the front lines. Like all Guard Units, they are equally involved in the action taking place with none being kept to the rear. Most within the ASSC, will likely spend more time in the front lines, as these types of units are always attached to Special Weaponry Units.

ULSTER HOME GUARD

102nd ACC (Army Cyclist Corps)

There is only one cyclist unit still operating within the Ulster Home Guard. They are generally used as secondary reconnaissance and messengers. However, don’t let this fool you into thinking they are of no use as there has been many times, they have been able to cycle to their objective with great speed and capture it before the enemy. They hold the objective until rifle support groups can help relieve them. The cyclist operates under the same principles as the ASSC, but are more mobile and can carry additional weaponry, ammunition and supplies as well as tools for field craft, to which they are at times regarded as Engineers

ULSTER HOME GUARD

1st ADC (Army Chaplains Dept.)

Helping to provide all with guidance, insight and perspective within their duties. Chaplains, although commissioned officers within the UHG, wearing full uniform and equipment, do not have executive authority over regular UHG officers or troops.
